The CoRE – Communication over Real-time Ethernet – research group works on communication solutions for time-critical applications using the Ethernet technology.
Real-time extensions for standard switched Ethernet have widen the realm of computer networks to safety-critical applications. Since summer 2008 the CoRE group has been working on Ethernet-based network technologies for applications in harsh real-time environments, such as vehicles and planes.
Prof. Dr. Franz Korf and Prof. Dr. Thomas C. Schmidt have founded the group together with Till Steinbach. Prof. Dr. Franz Korf has a wide competence base concerning real-time environments, whereas Prof. Dr. Thomas C. Schmidt is an expert on future networks and Internet technologies. This widely spread knowledge base is the groundwork of prosperous research.
